"1975" | Solo Exhibition by Angela Chrusciaki Blehm

About Angela

Shifting from dreams to reality, experience to perception, Angela’s art explores traditional and stereotypical female roles through pattern manipulation and experimentation with scale. She chases color as an antidote to life in her pursuit of happiness. Sexuality, absurdity, playfulness, obligations, and nature all manifest on canvas or on her layered wood assemblages.

A Look Inside “1975”: Angela Chrusciaki Blehm’s Color-Soaked Time Machine

Angela Chrusciaki Blehm’s newest exhibition, 1975, is a vivid dive into five decades of pop culture, personal memory, and brightly lit nostalgia. Known for her bold palette and playful sensibility, Blehm transforms familiar moments from the past into something newly electric—part retro daydream, part contemporary remix.

At the heart of 1975 is a kaleidoscopic archive of the artist’s own observations and obsessions. Roller-rink lights, disco floors, Solid Gold dancers, and the glow of boxy televisions are distilled into painted patterns, textures, and abstract forms. These references don’t appear literally; instead, they surface as pulses of color, rhythm, and movement that feel instantly recognizable, even when they’re completely reimagined.

Blehm’s layered compositions invite viewers to wander through their own histories. Each piece becomes a portal—back to a soundtrack, an aesthetic, a fascination, or a cultural moment that imprinted itself somewhere along the way. The exhibition’s playful tone is matched by a deeper undercurrent: a reflection on how nostalgia shapes identity, taste, and the emotional landscapes we carry forward.

Included in the exhibition are bespoke furniture pieces in collaboration with Chris Lund. View more here

1975 doesn’t just look back. It reframes the past with fresh clarity, reminding us how pop culture both mirrors and molds who we are. Blehm’s work captures that duality with vibrancy and humor, offering a world that feels at once familiar and thrillingly new.

One of the standout works in 1975 is "Wonderwall", a larger-than-life interactive piece that brings joy and play back into the gallery experience. Patrons are invited to pick any magnet, play, explore, and let their imaginations run wild — a reminder that art is not just for looking, but for experiencing, touching, and enjoying. It’s a celebration of creativity in its purest form.
