Julian Martinez
Julián Martínez Villalba (Medellín, Colombia) is a visual artist trained at the Universidad del Atlántico in Barranquilla. His work integrates painting, illustration, caricature, and elements of graffiti within a contemporary exploration that merges conceptual art with refined pictorial technique. His practice explores the transformative power of imagery—translating emotions into color, and personal experiences into visual narratives that resonate on a universal level. Through a distinctive style that balances precision and expression, his work moves between symbolism, identity, and cultural reflection.
He has received important recognitions, including the Enrique Grau Arts Award (2016) in Bogotá and First Place in the Portfolio Grant Program by the Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo of Barranquilla. His work has been featured in major exhibitions such as Feria del Millón Caribe, the International Painting Biennial at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de San Luis Potosí (Mexico), and the “Menos de Mil” Art Fair in Panama.
His work is currently exhibited on a permanent basis in international spaces, including The Miller Gallery (USA), Elsa Piñeres Galería (Colombia), and the “Menos de Mil” Art Fair in Panama.
