Meredith Walker
Meredith Walker (b. 1990) is a multidisciplinary artist and designer. Her work explores the idea of physical and spiritual rootedness through repeated imagery inspired by nature, vintage textiles and historical folk art.
After discovering abstract painting as a form of therapeutic movement in her early days of motherhood, Meredith’s process has evolved into a somewhat meditative practice. While her visual style evokes the familiarity of folk and decorative arts, Meredith maintains a ‘process over product’ approach in the creation of her work; Her primary interest remaining in the act of play and letting the work lead her to its final form. She works out her designs in layers of color and a variety of mediums including fluid acrylics, gouache and added textures, sometimes including natural elements such as soil and rainwater to lay the foundation of her larger paintings.
Meredith received a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of South Carolina in 2013 and began painting in 2019 as a way to cope with postpartum depression. She has since built a collector base across the U.S. and beyond. Additionally, Meredith has collaborated with independent designers to create art-focused soft goods & accessories, and has licensed her artwork for use on an international scale. She currently lives with her husband and two daughters in Columbia, SC.
