A Sneak Peek into 2025 Art & Interior Design Trends

Hello Art Lovers! 2025 is officially in full swing and we are already seeing some fabulous Art & Interior Design trends on our horizon but first, let's recap the trends we saw from 2024!

2024 Art & Interior Design Trends

  • Minimalism/ Scandi Rustic

  • Quiet Luxury

  • Maximalist Finishes - Ornate mirrors, Moulding, Panelling

  • The Beginnings of Color Drenching

  • Faux Accents - Boucle fabrics and faux trees

2024 took us beyond a single aesthetic and offered us trends from TWO contrasting vantage points: Minimalism and Maximalism. Going forward into 2025, we are seeing how both of these design philosophies are still at the forefront taking Art & Interior Design trends A STEP FURTHER and becoming even more BOLD. We think this may be the year when these opposing aesthetics converge into a new movement that meets in the middle called “Midimalism”. Let's get more into it!

What is Midimalism?

When Minimalist principles such as simple forms, restrained palettes, and sleek lines are combined with Maximalist drama and bold color, a fine balance is achieved allowing the environment to pack a punch without overwhelming the senses. Homes and Gardens states, “ This balance between the understated and the striking allows for a refined elegance, where each piece is intentional and contributes to a cohesive yet elevated atmosphere.” So what does Midimalism mean in terms of this year's Art & Interior Design trends? Below are some of our findings!

A STEP FURTHER: 2025 Art & Interior Design Trends

  • Color Drenching in Full Bloom - Bold, rich color from floor to galore and complimentary or analogous color schemes (refer to the 60-30-10 rule)

  • Eco-friendly and Sustainability - Consciously sourced materials and zero impact furniture

  • Organic Warmth and Biophilia - Connecting indoor spaces with nature by having more natural light, real indoor plants, and natural textures

  • Carefully Curated Art & Collectables - Uniquely displaying art and mementos in small groups by color or theme
  • Pattern Play - Mixing wallpapers and patterns that balance and emphasize a space's character

Miller Gallery Artists x Midimalist

Here at The Miller Gallery we believe in the power of connection through art which is why we think our artists go beyond the rest! We are confident that we can offer something for everyone, so here are some of our favorite picks to make your Midimalist dreams come true!

Loom Blocks, by Mary Hamby

Mary Hamby and Twenty Two West: Mary Hamby's work is the perfect, Midimalist example of when understated meets striking. Her practice focuses on sourcing all of her materials ethically and sustainably which is a fabulous bonus! For many reasons, it is clear that her work adds the perfect amount of individual charm and brightness to any space!

Rose & Lavender, by Scot Rittenbaum

Scot Rittenbaum: Scot Rittenbaum is one our local artists that we always recommend to anyone who is looking to add a touch of soft vibrancy to their space. So what the heck is soft vibrancy?! With Scot's play of bold color and expressive application, his work achieves a fine balance that we think is the epitome of Midimalist elegance!

Hasta La Raiz, by Kat Sanchez

Kat Sanchez: Katrina Sánchez Standfield is an interdisciplinary Panamanian-American fiber artist. Kat pairs traditional processes like weaving and knitting, and experiments with texture, color, and scale. The soft materiality of her works are not only inviting to touch but also explores the meaning and magnitude of comfort in a space. We think Kat's work offers the perfect pop of Midimalist color and presence!
