Periscope | Laura Dargan Solo Exhibition
The Miller Gallery is pleased to present "Periscope," a solo exhibition featuring Charleston-based artist Laura Dargan.
The exhibition will be hosted in the pristine white-walled Hed Hi Studio and will showcase Dargan’s artistic progression and style of work over the past few years. Laura Dargan is a self-taught artist known for both geometric abstraction and experimental figurative paintings. Her work explores the interaction between unexpected color combinations and irregular shapes. She states that her goal is to create “visual energy,” which is evident from her playful use of form and joyful colors on canvas. Each viewer is left to interpret and connect with the paintings on their own terms.
“Periscope is a collection of works that has evolved intuitively over several years, capturing the essence of transformation and new perspectives. This journey began with two distinct bodies of work that, when viewed together, revealed a perspective that allowed me to see up and through to a different vantage point.
As my exploration continued, the artwork progressed to a new plane, illustrating a linear development that portrays three levels of existence and thought. Each piece serves as a reflection of the intricate layers of perception, inviting viewers to engage with their own interpretations and experiences.
This exhibition encourages introspection and exploration of the unseen dimensions that shape our understanding of the world. Welcome to Periscope, where art becomes a tool for exploration and revelation.” - Laura Dargan
The opening reception on Saturday, October 26th from 6-10 p.m. will feature a live DJ and beverages. Beyond the opening reception on Saturday night, visitors can view Periscope during viewing hours on Sunday, October 27th from 1-4 p.m.
